I know its deemed 'insensitive' to talk about the referendum whilst this MP is dead and all..

But to be honest, I care very little for a dead MP - their job makes it marginally more significant to me then any other dead person.. of which there have been quite a lot lately, as always.

The referendum however, I care a huge amount about - as it literally decides the future of our country, and to some extent our lives.

maybe I am just heartless, but I cant stand how the media and many people want to have a communal **** over a dead body by declaring how awful a tragedy it is, how beautiful she was, how we cant possibly talk about the referendum or campaign out of respect etc. ******** - she is a person that has died, pay your respect, move on. Infact I would go as far as saying that given her record of campaining or the referendum, and many other issues, the best possible way to pay honour her legacy is by continuing her political work, debating, discussing, trying to solve the worlds problems.. not just stopping, and having what feels like a few days of country-wide mourning, less then a week before we have a huge huge election.

I dislike strongly the idea that in any way, this incident will have an effect on peoples mind.. I am not sure which way it will sway the vote. I hear many saying it will have a positive effect on the remain campaign, due to the attackers obvious far-right political leanings.. and equally I hear a few saying it benifits the leave campaign, because the leave campaign had just gotten out in front, had all the momentum - and a few days without campaigning is a big loss for remain, who needed to change their fortunes and get back ahead.

But either way, It feels like many view this as heartless, but for me, a decision about the future of 60+ million people, and the 5th largest economic power in the world.. is more important then paying days of respect to one single person.. how ever amazing she was.

I agree that campaigning should be going on for the reasons you said.

But it's more than just the death of an MP. It was a political murder, motivated by the very issue we're voting on this Thursday. If the guy's skin was a bit darker it'd be roundly condemned as an act of terrorism. This was a murder by someone on the far right following weeks of disgusting and hostile campaigning from his side of the argument.

As I said I think campaigning should still be going on, but it's not just a dead MP. Just a dead MP was the Oldham by-election last year. This is more than that.

I think any lingering doubts as to whether leave might actually come out on top have now been vanquished. Sad, but Jo Cox paid the ultimate sacrifice in life to secure our countries future.

    agree on the terrorism part.

There was a little bit of doubt yesterday, but after what he said in court - any media not calling it terrorism is out of line.

Anyone got any experience in stocks and savings? I've got a decent bit of money in savings account that I've had since I was a kid and now need to take it out as the account is no longer valid. I won't need the money for a good few years yet so it's pointless having it just sitting around, so I'm looking to turn it into a bit more money than I already have, not bothered how much, but the more the merrier. Suggestions?
