Traditionally thats what they were for in the 60's/70s/80s. But judging by the comments on some forums its a bit pervy/creepy so instead we have these little circles of either men or women drinking red stripe and holding their phones aloft. Makes you wonder where all our scores of teen single mothers are meeting their 25 year old Darrens? Mind you its probably different up north though

Seems a bit judgemental: "it's probably different up north"; "scores of teen single mothers "; "25 year old Darrens" etc.

Anyway, it's not frowned upon as long as both parties are willing and consenting. What is frowned upon is people just going up to someone and kissing and groping them without their consent, which happens incredibly often before you say it's not common.

Alcohol and darkness seems to make people think they can do what they like, whether the other party wants it or not, and that is what's frowned upon.
