How many structural isomers are formed from the mononitration of 1,3 dimethylbenzene Watch

    Are you sure it's saying 2 only because for example it gives you one of the structural isomers?

    Other than that, I would agree there are three.

    Unless it's referring to the fact that because of the inductive effect of the methyl groups, they'll increase the likeliness of substituting the nitro group onto 2 or 4.

    So you're not likely going to form 1,3-dimethyl-4-nitrobenzene.
    Nevertheless I would've still put three.

    Well, it's actually 3 but the question gives an example of one and then says how more structural isomers can be made aside from the example.
