Question to females at uni

Was reading a book about the hook up culture at uni, and it said that some women engage in hookups because they feel the time a relationship requires would detract from their academic success.

It said these women want to have fun with friends, do well at uni and also ideally have a relationship, but "there isnt enough time in the day for all of that", so instead they use hookups/casual relationships to fill the intimacy void temporarily.

So I was just curious - to the girls on here, do you do this or do you know people who do? Is this common amongst your friends / social circles?

and do you find most of the guys you're interested in at uni are looking for casual or more serious relationships?

Personally I don't, I think it's more a freedom thing and you're around good looking people your own age, nothing wrong with it as long as it's consenting adults

Not a girl and not at uni, but I'm curious what book you got that from? I socialise with quite a lot of uni students, almost all of whom are in relationships, so that certainly doesn't match my observations (which may, of course, be atypical). I'd be sceptical.

That doesn't seem accurate to me.

Seems accurate to me.
Most of the guys here at my uni are only looking for casual relationships too.

some look for relationships, some casual hook ups.
it really depends what you're looking for.
