    I applied to University to study Criminology (after years of not being able to decide, going back and forth between all manner of subjects from different areas and with the UCAS deadline approaching, I went for something new that looked interestingly out of a couple of subjects and on what at the time I thought was enough research, I picked Criminology). I got all 5 of my offers so have been to offer holder days and so on and I'm fast realising that criminology isn't for me and want to do a different degree- Biology. I'm okay waiting another year and reapplying if that's necessary but I would really like to convert this year. I've been on the UCAS website but can't find anything so how do I go about changing? Will I have to change once I'm there (I'm worried that Biology is going to be a pretty full course at most places)? Do it before? Go through clearing? UCAS Extra? There's so much and I'm not sure which is right

    Email the universities you're holding offers at (I'd start with the ones you're most interested in putting as your firm and insurance) and ask whether they would be willing to switch your offer to biology. They can do it within the internal system without you making any changes on UCAS. With it being past the official deadline for applications they may have made all the offers for biology, and it will depend on whether you meet the entry requirements, but there's no harm in asking to switch before you go to the trouble of going through Extra/Clearing.
