This guy from one of my uni classes messaged me on fb and now it's like he won't stop talking. I'm trying to do coursework and he's constantly asking me questions and stuff. He's so needy and I can't cope. To make things worse he's started telling me things about his past- mental health issues and stuff- and I don't know what to say. I've only been talking to him for like 2 days and he's pouring his heart out to me and asking advice and telling me how important I am to him. I don't want to be a b*tch but I can't deal with his problems as well as my own life atm. How can I stop talking to him without hurting his feelings/ making it awkward in class?

Just tell him you are busy? You're in the same classes, so surely he will understand the amount of work you have to do. As said above you don't need to read the messages either. You can also set yourself as 'offline' on Facebook, to everyone or just him so he won't actually see when you are online and won't be messaging you as much perhaps.

I agree with Shawn, just stop responding and he'll soon get the message.

That's sad, maybe he just needs someone to talk to. Hear him out for a bit, be nice and stuff and then tell him after that it was lovely talking to him but you have some work to catch up with. And that you would talk later? Idek just keep it casual and cool.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

@ the OP, the best way is to completely ignore him and hopefully he will get the message.

Have you tried telling this guy that you aren't in the mood to talk. Also have you tried blocking him and if he asks why just say or tell him the reason why for it seems like that he's not leaving you alone

hear them out for a bit, refer them anonymously to a university welfare officer/someone qualified, try to be as blunt as politely possible and if it gets too much just be honest

Become more distant. If he doesn't grasp it you will have to tell him straight. You don't have an obligation to be a friend..
