Pro - police will have more time to deal with real criminals
Pro - people suffering from joint pain and other medical issues will gain a powerful and now legal medicine
Pro - people that use marijuana can relax and not have to worry about being caught all the time
Pro - like tobacco, the government could make millions in extra tax
Pro - people would be able to buy marijuana from safer, reputable companies as opposed to backstreet drug dealers. This gives governments the opportunity to dissuade marijuana users.

Con - the use of marijuana would become more widespread
Con - children would be more likely to smoke marijuana
Con - marijuana deposits 4 times as much as tar into people's lungs than tobacco
Con - marijuana significantly increases the risk of lung disease
Con - marijuana increases the risk of lung cancer, placing greater strain on the NHS
Con - marijuana users are more likely to develop mental health issues such as paranoia and schizophrenia
Con - marijuana users lose motivation and ambition, creating a society of slackers.
