    The new A levels are linear and all you get on results day is an overall grade (you may have experienced this at GCSE if you took most GCSE maths syllabuses or an IGCSE). This is all the exams software schools have is set up to receive and I have checked with AQA and Edexcel and they confirm this is the case.

    Schools will be able to access the raw marks via exam board secure sites but as the grade boundaries won't be fixed the results are going to be a lot more trouble to interpret. I have raised how difficult this is going to make post results with the exam boards and they thanked me for my comments. I need to find the time to nag them some more but unfortunately exams is only part of my job and I haven't found the time..
