The articles below relate to the health problems that may arise when using computersand other electronic input and output devices.
‘Many children are now using computers at home or school or both. Few schools or homesprovide proper workstations for children; furthermore, people become injured at“ergonomically correct” workstations every day because of improper posture and techniqueand sheer overuse of the hands.’http://www.rsihelp.com/children.shtm
‘Children learning to use computers are being put at risk of permanent injury, some healthexperts are warning. They say thousands of children have already been damaged bymedical problems associated with the operation of computers.’http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1041677.stm
Discuss the advice you could give parents concerning their children’s use of ICTdevices, the health problems that may arise and how those problems could beprevented. In your answer use your knowledge of and experience with ICT devices andthe fact that current health and safety legislation does not apply to children. (20 marks)
In this question you will be marked on your ability to use good English, to organiseinformation clearly and to use specialist vocabulary where appropriate.

thank you!!!

Woops, i thought you were going to upload your answer. I'll try do the question my self

can someone tell me what a QR code is?! never heard of one!

A QR code is a quick response code, that holds data. Used like a bar code but QR codes are mostly scanned using smartphones. They are mostly seen on bus stops, which when scanned shows the user when their bus is going to come.

I got an A at AS but resitting INFO2 due to having low ums in it. Lasts years past paper for info1 was literally a copied and pasted question paper from previous years

How did you anwser the 20 mark question last year on software and hardware? Also when referecing the page number do you have to write just one page number if it involves more than one page, or do you reference at the start, e.g. For testing evidence do you reference at the very start?

the hardware and software question, talk about the contents of INFO1 e.g. spreadsheet software for database, word processing software for doing homework on the go. Hardware, can be external hard disk drive to store extra data on.

For referencing, if your proof goes between pages 4-6

just write '4-6'

Thanks, so for the 20 mark question you just discussed a range of application software and storage devices? Did you discuss input devices that the students would need like keyboards, scanner, etc.

Also for the 15 mark question on design of the website for prospective students and their oarents what did you say? Did you mention how to make the user interface friendly, such as naviagtion buttons or validation/verfication on data entry forms??

Thanks.

thanks! there is a question on june 2014 paper about it

You're Welcome! I don't suppose you could help me on the 20 mark essay structure for the last few questions? just dont want to fall down here as i am retaking! :frown:
can someone tell me the best way to structure the 20 markers and approx how many points should be made
Also, for validity of data input, accuracy of input, presentation of output, ensuring solution meets client requirements and that the solution and that solution is usable by end user and audience ~ what tests could we describe to ensure these has been met?

Thanks for any replies
Can someone briefly explain all of the storage devices we need to know for the exam and approx how much storage each can hold
Best way to structure the longer mark questions??

Ah if you could just give me a generic way of going about answering 20 mark essays in info 1 as my teachers have been pretty useless.

If you could briefly mention the ways o doing 6 and 12 markers that would be fantastic!

Thank you

Thanks! do you need to know the storage capacities of these?
I just wanted to ask for the last question do you write the answer in full sentences or can you right the answer down in points so you could section it off between Software and Hardware? It asks for questions to be answered in full English but I found that writing the answer in bullet points almost works very well.

I know about online storage. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it's mentioned massively in the specification is it?

You need to answer in fulll sentences because it's an essay and it says in the Q. you'll be marked on written communication
