Don't go! Go to glasgow! Look at low student satisfaction in rankings for Ed Uni. Students are depressed at Edinburgh University for a reason = it sucks!

Lol @ above. Edinburgh is sick. People are intelligent and friendly in general, and certainly no less than anywhere else. You'll have a great time. Also: Hive.

Disclaimer: I'm not even an Edinburgh student, so I'm probably not the best qualified to talk on this, but I went along to the applicants' visit day they held just yesterday, and I also visited Glasgow today as well.

The impression I received was that the Edinburgh vibe was not for me. I personally felt that it was somewhat colder, a bit less friendly than Glasgow (which was the other choice I was considering). There's definitely a stereotype that Edinburgh's like that, and in this case I feel as though there's truth to it.

Friends of mine and other people I know who have visited Edinburgh Uni (or have even just spent a good deal of time in Edinburgh itself) seem to agree with this on the whole, and as I went about Glasgow Uni today I overheard, on more than one occasion, people who had applied to Edinburgh but had later decided to rule it out, due to the atmosphere not being what they were after.

It's obviously important to keep in mind the quality of education you receive, but it's not at all unreasonable to consider other, more social aspects of it, considering you will be spending at least four years there. If it's not for you, it's not for you, but it's pretty hard to tell until you actually rock up to the uni yourself and get a feel for the place. Everybody is different, and there are many people who do love it all - you really must visit if you want to be able to tell whether or not it's gonna be for you.

Hey do you think choosing Glasgow over Edinburgh will affect your future? Cause Edinburgh is higher in ranking and so would you be possibly be looked at 'lower' for going to Glasgow? I'm stuck in between the two but it doesn't seem like Edinburgh has the best atmosphere.
