my first uni choice is for an NHS funded course, I've therefore applied for student finance using this choice meaning I'd get an NHS bursary.. my second choice course however if for a normal course which I would need full financial help from student finance.
do I need to make a second application to student finance for this course??

If there's a chance that you might end up at your second choice and you wouldn't be able to manage financially without any student loans for your first term then yes - apply to SFE for your second choice course as well.

If you don't start on a course then the SLC don't pay out a penny and your loan gets cancelled automatically - but if you apply late in August then you might not get any finance through until next January.
