Rutherford, faraday, royce or hazelrigg?

Cuming to loughborough in oct to study sports science and cant choose between these catered halls in th student villiage. Which ones the best?!

Well, Hazelrigg isn't in the student village it's opposite the union, so if you want to be in the village then that counts Rigg out!

I wouldn't pick Faraday myself because I can imagine that getting 'Faragay, **** **** ****' screamed at you all through Freshers week might get a bit boring...

Between Royce and Rutherford... Not much difference. You need first, second and third choices anyways, so...

I'm thinking of applying for Faraday as well, although seems like it's disliked:p: what's with "Faragay"?

It's just an obvious joke to make I guess. Plus a few years ago various members of their Committee were sleeping together and gave each other chlamydia.

'Faragay' has been going on for years, well my brother was saying it back in 2000!

Anyway, pretty much what Lib said!

Royce/Rutherford/Faraday/Cayley - practically no difference. All in the village, all have the same style blocks (apart from Cayley's Cayley Flats, Rutherford's Whitworth and Royce & Faraday's "New blocks", which only make up a small proportion of the rooms in each hall).

Rigg-rutt is a totally different kettle of fish though as it's not in the student village. Have a search around the forum for info. on Rigg-rutt.

Cheers guys, thought they seemed pretty much the same, do you know which would be closest to the sports science department?

Doesn't matter - you don't have lectures in your department. I guess Rutherford is the closest to some of the sports facilities, but seeing as rutherford, faraday and royce are all on top of each other, it doesn't really matter.

If you want to do sports, you should choose Towers. Its catered, and its near to the department.

Actually, fi you're a serious sportsmen then you're better off not going into catered halls to help your diet.
Doesn't make that much difference tbh, i know 3 people in the GB team who are in catered and haven't had a problem with what food to eat!

Although the benefit of Towers is that you can do plenty of exercise without even leaving your hall

lol interesting replies guys, i was thinkin of towers but only want 5 day catering really. Was jus trying to see if any of them were renound for having a better atmosphere than the others or for having better rooms. Sounds like they pretty much th same though. cheers!

5 day catering is a pain because you don't have anything decent to cook with at weekends. One little induction hob ring between 15 people = a big queue to cook pasta/whatever. And weekend brunch is the best meal in halls!
:dito:

if you're gonna go catered go to elvyn, towers or dc.

weekend meals = yummy
Brunch is my favourie meal

we, rigg rut only have 5 day catering. It depends what u want really - if u wanna live on top of each other go to the village. Dont go to Faraday - everyone hates faraday and to play ims...they only pick the best, winning is everything to them and they have the rudest supporters in the world.

Rigg Rut is by the union, near the sports science dept, near the lecture theatres, rugby pitch, athletics track. rutherford/royce/faragay are nearer the library and holywell.
