    Hi,
Basically, I'm currently in the process of applying for my student finance and I was just wondering whether or not I'd be considered a uk national or not. I was born here and I have my birth certificate to prove it however I don't have a uk passport I have a Portuguese one. Can anyone let me know what I should do.
    Thank you

Student Finance is based on residency, rather than citizenship. Where have you been living for the last 5 years?

However, you are not a UK national unless you fall into one of these categories https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_national

As Origami Bullets says, your SF entitlement is based on where you've been living and not on your nationality or citizenship.

As long as you have lived in the UK for 5 years or more before your degree's start date, and you can prove that if required (school records, registration wih GP/dentist etc), then you will be assessed as a UK/Home student for the full Tuiton Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan entitlement.
