I think I might have some kind of anxiety disorder and am thinking about going to a gp to get it diagnosed. Has anyone perhaps with experience of this got any suggestions of what I would say to them and what they would be able to do about it?

    Thanks in advance

Speak about personal experiences. Social situations and how they make you feel. These include side effects, e.g. sweaty palms, tight chest, loss of though or irrational thinking, etc. Anxiety tends to be associated with a fear of a particular social situation, so if you can explain yourself clearly, you should be fine. Even in the presence of a doctor or future event which is worrying can generate a lot of anxiety, so if you experience any of those don't forget to mention it.

Just explain how it affects you and your experience. If you think you will find it tough, you could write it down beforehand and take it in.

Physiotherapists and doctors can be of help or even your gp can be talked to about different issues and personal feelings such like.
