No, because he didn't even get it on target.

Plus, Ricardo is a better keeper than James methinks.

So how did the other 9 penalty takers get it in then? Or did the pitch suddenly crumble the moment Beckham stepped up?

They stamped the ground down after seeing how badly the ground messed up beck's penalty.

Even this guy would have done better. He'd fit right in with England's tactics of sitting on the ball for 87 minutes.

Even if he went first and the pitch was 'crap', then how did the rest get theirs in?

Because they were able to compensate for it, as they saw how much effect it had.

Didn't you think the fact most of the england ones went low and straight down the line was a bit odd?
Thats because they were aware of the affect of the pitch.

Well according to Owen, they'd been practicing on that pitch all of the day before and knew exactly what the penalty spots were like. That's the second time he's blamed the spot for missed penalties now. The ground may have given way beneath him on both occasions, but you can't just put that down to coincidence. It's poor technique by Beckham. You may have noticed that on both occasions he was trying to out the ball to the keeper's left. Never had the problem going to his right. However, Beckham's an arrogant prick, so next time it happens he'll once again just point at the spot then tell the media that he still wants to take England's penalties.

Yes, but the state of it after the match must have been worse than in training.
No, its not down to coincidence, its down to piss poor groundkeeping.
