i can't stnad this poem.. so many interpretations.. but don't get confused by it.. pick your idea and then find evidence it could be the speaker is a father who left his daughter before birth and is asking for trust to be back in her life.. a boyfriend is speaking to his girlfiend and their is a lack of trust in their relationship and his point is even though his mum doesnt trust her she should trust him sort of thing.. i'm not really sure... or it could be a boy who's had an argumnet with her mother (which i don't believe at all! ) you can find notes on

Those websites will help
There is a fair bit to write about... it's a hard poem but that is good.. challenge yourself if your aiming for top grades

Thanks! Got into a panic there.
i think that the yellow coat in homecoming is the main motif of the poem as it could be seen as precious and perhaps damaged, much like the child. a jilted family life could also be presented as many descriptions such as 'points the finger. temper, temper.' have negative connotations.

Is it only our teacher that says that the jacket is dirty because she had sex on the floor?...
