Headaches

So, it's as simple as the title really. I keep getting headaches. Like, a lot of the time. Pretty much every day one gets so bad I have to have paracetamol, and sometimes that doesn't even help. I used to get them a lot at work, and assumed it was just stress as I work all day on the customer service desk, and customers are stressful. Lol. But now (and right now) I have one. I try resting my eyes, I've got nothing wrong with my glasses prescription (I've checked) and they seem to be getting worse. They start at the back of my head and gradually move to the front, I get stressed and neckachey too, and sometimes they're so bad I actually feel really sick.

I was thinking about going to the doctor, mainly cause I'm worried about taking paracetamol all the time, but I don't know if there's anything he can do, will it just be a case of 'it's stress, I can't help...' etc?

I try to drink enough, so I'm not dehydrated, I try to eat enough and properly, I don't spend more than half an hour at a time on the comp or an hour watching tv. I don't read too much, I sleep 7-8 hours a night... I just don't know what it is. Grr.

it might be an intoleance to a certain food. my friends mum has a dairy intolerance and she gets headaches if she eats dairy products. if they are everyday then it could be something serious, so go to the doctor!!

I had this, mainly centred around my left eye. I went to have my eyes checked out, nothing, nor any solution elsewhere. To this day I still don't know what caused them - although I think it may have been general ill health (coughs, colds and the like) mixed with high stress (just starting medical school).

All i can say is, I hope they go away - mine did, eventually, so I hope you'll be the same.

Either that, or it could be severe migraine, in which case your doctor will be able to prescribe something for you to help. Do you get any 'warning signs' before they start?
Doesn't sound like migraine. (Take it from someone very experienced :frown: )

If you're having headaches persistently that aren't relieved by painkillers then you probably need to see your GP.

In the meantime, drink plenty of water, make sure you're eating enough, and if paracetamol alone didn't help, try coupling it with a full dose of aspirin or ibuprofen, and a little bit of caffeine.

Bear in mind that if you take painkillers often you may be getting a rebound headache though!
Sounds like tension headaches to me - I get them when I have big events coming up like exams, driving test etc...

Doesnt sound as harsh as a migraine, I used to think mine were going onto migraines but then if I have a lie down they tend to ease off.

Good luck getting rid of them, I found aspirin helped to ease mine x

Sounds similar to the headaches ive been getting recently, for me the pain is at the top of my neck and the back of my head which moves round to the top and its like I can feel my pulse in my head =/ and when they start there is nothing I can do to ease the pain, I have been taking dicolmax which was prescribed to me for muscle pain in my shoulder but it seems to get rid of these headaches too. Ibuprofen didnt work for me =/

Yeah that sounds like the kind of thing, the pulsing feeling. Maybe I'll try taking something different.

Happiness in the sunshine helped a bit yesterday, maybe it's just cabin fever from cold weather and too much revision.

Thankyou for advice everyone

I would go and see a doctor just to be sure that they are simply tension headaches or something similar. Lots of different things cause headaches like eye strain, problems with teeth/jaw and more serious neurological problems so I would definately see a doctor just to get checked out.

I suffer from headaches more or less everyday :frown: I stopped taking painkillers for them because of worries over taking medicine all the time, can't see how that is good for you. Chronic headaches aren't fun.
