My laptop (on Windows 10) was working perfectly fine yesterday morning. Then come evening I restart my laptop and it attempts to automatically do a system repair.
I left it on overnight and in total It was still saying repairing after 13 hours despite the fact it said it should only take one hour so I grew impatient and decided to force stop the system repair by pushing down the power button.
I restarted my laptop again and this time it attempted to do a disk repair, it reached 100% but on reboot nothing changed and I was still stuck on the never ending brand logo screen and circular rotating dots.
After restarting a few times by some miracle and I don't even know how, a new blue screen comes up with lots of different options, one of them being to open command prompt. I took this opportunity to open notepad from command prompt and copy my important files over to an external USB flash drive.
I then attempted a system restore which was one of the other options available. There was only one restore point to choose from but it was roughly 24 hours prior to when everything went downhill. Upon finalising the restore my PC restarted but still no success as I am still stuck on the screen with the brand name and never ending circular dots rotating.
I found this online which leads me to believe it has something to do with the new Windows 10 update that was released at the same time everything went downhill, some people have been having the same problem with mention of it also in Reddit.
However, I'm thinking there might also be a problem with my laptop's hard drive as my laptop makes a constant ticking noise which apparently is one of the easiest signs of identifying a hard drive on its way out.
I have no idea what to do. My current situation is just my laptop on the brand name screen with never ending rotating circle dots which never progresses beyond that point.
