I'm studying Of Mice an Men and An Inspector Calls and for poetry I'm doing the relationships cluster.
I heard that it is likely that To His Coy Mistress or In Paris With You or Sister Maude will come up for poetry.

I really need predictions for OMAM and AIC. I'm not confident in all of English lit but the poetry is a little better than the novel and play and I got an A* in my coursework so it shouldn't be too bad.
I predict that a question about Sheila and Geralds relationship will come up, or you could choose to do conflict. Also for Of Mice and Men, i predict that ssomething about the build up of lennies death will come and about the dreams of characters. Tell me if im right. Good luck im the exam. P.S dont stick to my predictions because they are predictions after all, anyhing could come up.

did anybody do an inspector calls : gerald and Sheila question and to kill a mockingbird? what points did you make
I put about how its male dominated as her father tries to initiate it to better himself however sheila becomes more assertive as she forces gerald to confess to eva which is a role switch and he becomes weak and vunerable when admitting his feelings then it switches back to the start after they find out the inspectors fake as he convinces her to forget about it , Priestley does it to show capitalist are going to keep overruling if you dont stand up and be responsible and it links to ouspenkys cyclic theory

For OMAM what did everyone say about the extract?
I put about the crashing footsteps coming show danger and pace and are contrasting as footsteps are soft and the crashing is harsh and aggressive , i then went on to talk about the " darkening slopes " and how at the start behind them is a golden river which is the american dream and that lennie is the shadow and the sunlight casting the shadow is georges independence and that its darkening shows coldness and negativity and that it will allow george to break free , i also put about "shakily" showing fear and that his physical body told him he couldnt do it as he was scared as lennie was his only companion and i talked about "bluer" and pathetic fallacy and that blue can foreshadow depressing things are coming up * lennies death * and that its a cold colour

Do you think I'll lose a lot of marks if I didn't sum up Gerald and Sheila's relationship at the end? I only included the shift in relationship from the start and the middle and gave alternative interpretations and linked it to Priestley's ideas throughout? I unfortunately ran out of time so I had to move on pretty much, I'm so scared that I never included the end :x

Hi ya, the question stated that you could either talk about one or more characters. As long as if you showed close language analysis that linked to the question, then you should be fine. As well as linking the extract, I also integrated quotes to represent how they linked to society, and how Steinbeck demonstrates this throughout the novella. Don't be concerned, you'll be fine. The grade boundaries will hopefully be generous.
    Thank you so much x

My controlled assessment was the poetry one and it was 40 marks
I meant how much marks is it worth towards my whole English lit grade if that makes sense

It is along the lines of how does Steinbeck present dreams to the readers and how the society at the time makes it hard for people to get the dream.

I feel the exact same! I've been desperate for an A/A* all year but with the pressure and timings of the exam I wasn't able to put enough thought and depth into my writing😭 tbh I would be so devastated with a B

I did an inspector calls (conflict) and wrote about the impending war briefly, then went on to talk about Eric & Birling's tenuous relationship due to how Eric was never the son Birling wanted, and how Gerald was everything that Birling had hoped Eric to be in the sense that Gerald is a younger parallel to Birling with his capitalistic views and business driven attitude. I then said how Eric's stealing furtherd the rift in their relationship.
Then I went on to talk about the conflict between the classes, using Eva Smith's protest for higher wages as an example, and touching on how the higher classes are driven by greed rather than the lower classes who are simply trying to stay alive. Then I summed it up with how the whole play is a social commentary on the war between capitalistic and socialistic views and how Goole is a tool used to represent the socialistic side and Birling represents the capitalistic side.

I absolutely hated this question and probably just spent most of the time staring at the paper rather than writing. I get 25% extra time and still wrote less than everyone else 😂😂
Opinions on the points I made? Good/bad?
Hoping the boundaries are low because if not I'm screwed 😬

I think this are really good and like the one about Eric and Mr Birling ! Do u mind checking mine?
I said that Mr Birling and the Inspector are presented as complete opposites so the contrasts present an inevitable conflict. Then I went on to say about the opposing political views and how the final speech highlights the wrongs in Mr Birlings speech. Afterwards I spoke about the difference in setting with everyone at the table and then their separation at the end of the final speech which shows how the inspector has unearthed a conflict in the family, directly followed by the squabbling. Finally I spoke about sheila and Eric how they are described as half shy half assertive half serious half playful in the stage direction which suggests that they are facing internal conflicts battling with the stereotypes their traditionalist family expects them to fit under and their new young generation shown by the word squiffy. So I linked that to old and young:ahee:. Please can you tell me what you think as a lot of people have different ones to me thank you
