anyway. . .ill be back on here for help soon. taraa! x

Lol, well I've not started yet as I had Biology yesterday, so I have like, 5/6 days to get sorted. I completely failed the prelim which was pretty gutting but Im determined to be more prepared this time. I dont actually need to get a particular grade for this which eases the pressure a bit. Do you need this for a conditional?

I find it hard cos we didnt do any revision in class. After investigations were handed in there was no more time :s-smilie:

same, i did my final NAB the day before the end of term. i had bio yesterday too, and i need to get a B in that, and a B in chemistry so i have a chance of getting into vetmed. i got a C in the prelim, i got 49% and the paper was so hard that the pass mark was 44%, so i cant even appeal. arg.

do u know how they work out the final %, incorperating the investigation aswel??

Im pretty sure that they add it to your total so your total would be your exam mark plus your investigation mark and then they compare that to the total marks available in the exam plus the 25 marks for the investigation so that you get a percentage of it. So if you got say, 20 in the investigation and 60 out of 100 in the exam you'd get 80 out of 125. I think thats how its done anyway, not sure how else it would be done

haven't started revision yet either. was too focused on biology, plus can't face chemistry in general. woo...

investigation wise, they add the marks onto your exam, making it completely out of 125. well, i think so anyway. was looking at last years grade breakdown and that seems to be the way they did it.

Im ever so pleased with myself - got about 3 hours done today taking notes from the sqa course details notes. It simplifies it to make it a hell of a lot easier than the course notes we were given IMO. I got through a unit and a half and I think Im starting to understand a few things a bit better. At least if I get through the notes then I should be able to think about doing past papers a bit easier.

I'm not sure you'll be able to get these on the internet I'm afraid. It's (apparently) illegal to upload electronic copies of the papers, so it could be difficult to find them :frown:

lucyrobyn, the SQA course notes (along with some good course questions) are available here.

I'm going to get started with chemistry revision tomorrow. It's my last exam, and I'm almost certain I've met the AH part of my uni requirements already, so I can actually relax with this exam :p: Still going to put in a decent amount of work though, because I'd like to do well

These are the notes Im using

http://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/controller?p_service=Content.show&p_applic=CCC&pContentID=2944

- they're actually the arrangement documents from the sqa website. It seems to compact everything. I will be going through some of my notes and using scholar after finishing with these and I think I'll try that link someone posted above. Its nice to share

Right, just finished taking notes from the SQA website and my hand is killing me but not as much as it would have been had I used my notes (they have far too much padding in them).

Reply 13

wow! u wana scan them and send me a copy?! lol. iv made notes for each section before each NAB. and have lost them all. i find it really hard makeing notes for the final unit. . so far iv done the 1st unit and half of unit 2, but i suck at all the calculations in unit 2. i cant write equations just by knowing what the reactants are!

as for unit 3. there is so much to remember. i need to get a B, im so screwed! good thing is that u, danielle, being so proactive, have motivated me to get off my ass and start really cramming like hell!

Lol, see, competition is a good thing!

Not sure how much I've taken in but then at least I've gone through the whole thing lol. Usually I give up pretty quickly because of depression at not knowing anything but I stuck at it these past couple days so hopefully helped.

I agree unit 3 is like treading through mud - horrible! My notes I made are more or less the sqa ones copied down but I wouldnt have read them if I didnt copy them down as there were about 40 pages!

I need to get a B too... Some of this shiz I've never seen before!

I'd honestly never heard of oxidation numbers until today when I came upon a chance question in the past papers.

Ahhhhhh! !

Aw, I only know one person who needs a B in this and he also needs a B in advanced biology and a C in higher PE. Last year he got As in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and a B in English all at higher and did his gold duke of edinburgh, he's head boy etc etc, but he still got a conditional for medicine!

Im so glad Im going for pharmacy, at least I knew I could easily get the grades for that or else I dont think I'd have done as good last year.

I also know someone with 5 As in all sciences maths and english who was rejected from 4 places for medicine! Granted she didnt have as many extra-curricular things as some but still!

yeh. it took me 2months to learn how to name complexes, but im doing better now. . .infact i can do it in seconds. i think i know it, but then there is things i know, but i dont think i know them . . .if u get my drift. lol. like i cudnt tell u, but if i was asked a Q on it i would know the answer, arg.

Is it a conditional from Glasgow?
They don't hand out unconditionals to school year leavers, at all!
It's rough. We all met the conditions for applying but they want still more from us :frown:
Everywhere else in Scotland hands out uncondits.

Yeah, 5 As doesn't mean you get in. You have to get through interview, that's the hardest bit - most people just can't do it. Glasgow rejected something like 1500 after interview...

This girl didnt even get any interviews! She just got flat-out rejections! I was shocked, I mean, she'd done the max she could! I think it may have been cos she applied to do dentistry and medicine at dundee in which case I could see why they only accepted her for one course but the others... I dont know, must have been something to do with her personal statement I suppose...
