With Freshers, everything tends to start on the Sunday with people moving in, then you have different events taking place every day (when I was a fresher there, we had a carnival, quiz nights, roller disco, among other things). You'll have to buy tickets to some of the stuff, though. During the day, there's poster sales, fresher's fair, society fair. This is also the introduction week to your course, so you meet all of your tutors and classmates, perhaps do some group activities, learn how to use the library facilities - that sort of thing.

You also have to attend this introduction lecture on a Monday (I think) where someone talks to you about the uni for about an hour, then you enrol if you haven't done so already.

And you're definitely welcome if you're not living at the university.
