I have an offer of A*AA to study Economics and Politics at Durham next year, I'm fairly confident I can get this but was just wondering how lenient they would be should I miss the offer.

Anyone at Durham or in the same position know any infomation?

If you miss your offer there is a chance that Durham will accept you as a 'near miss' student. Nobody can really predict how likely this is as it depends on how all those who firm achieve against their offers.
If you do miss your offer be aware that:
    a) Durham sometimes make you wait for their decision - can be days and has caused frustration in the past with candidates missing out on clearing places.
    b) You may be reallocated colleges. You will effectively 'lose' your place and go back into allocation on the same basis with your preference considered etc..
Even if they have decided on still giving you a confirmed place when you log into track on results day, you will still have to wait it out for a few days at least to see if your college is still the same. So your offer may change from CF to UF on track, but then you will get an email reminding you that you 'missed' your offer and will be reallocated a college. You WILL get a place in a college, so not so bad as scrambling for accommodation at a uni you get through clearing, but your college may change.
They also stick exactly to your offer so A*, A, B is a miss for an A, A, A offer - if that makes sense... so in your case A*, A*, B would be a failure to meet your offer.
