Hello

Definitely Keele. It is a much much better university than Sheff Hallam, and I think that maybe Keele is only not so famous because it is a small and not a great place to live in England. I was thinking about applying to Keele for postgrad as it has excellent reputation in the IR and related fields, but instead I got to Warwick so I picked it.

I think a lot of clever people I know go to Keele, probably is it similar to liberal arts college in USA? Small but good academic insitution. Definitely Keele is a higher university than Sheffield Hallam and is one of the more good universities in England.

I think Sheffield is a much better location though and has a lot better night life although I may be wrong. I have heard that Keele is a good uni but I am happy with Hallam.

I'm currently at Keele, just finnished my second year doing Law and politcs.

Keele academically is pretty good the teaching scores aswell as the RAE ones are decent in a variety of areas, the medical school has just recently opened (well it was joined with Manchester but now its separate) so there are many positives in that context.

Of course thought the location is hardly terrific, in my second year I've lived in the heart of stoke(close to Staffordshire uni) which to be fair has not been as bad as expected but its pretty run down. Nevertheless being a campus Uni it allows students to stay on campus for yr 1 and 3 and I can not wait to get back as the campus is extremely pretty(its green) and you never have to leave for a year haha.

The nightlife however will not be a patch on Sheffield, although not as bad as people who never have been to Keele seem to believe.

In the end you have to ask yourself why you want to go to University and where you would spend 3 years of your life happily.

Keele is good and my friend is there, she really enjoys it.

I strongly recommend that you go to the university and see if you think you'd like it there. From what I understand it's a bit 'in the middle of nowhere', as contrasting with Sheffield, although Stoke on Trent and Newcastle under Lyme are nearby.

Keele is a Marmite Uni. You either love it or hate it. I love the place, its out in the country where I want to be, and the nightlife isn't as bad as people say. I would definetly advise a visit though, to make sure its for you.

Love:Keele!

Stoke and Newacastle are both alright (Newcastle's a bit nicer). They're certainly no worse than any other ex-industrial cities and the people are really nice.

Although ive only visited keele for a lecture on 'light chemistry', i got the distinct impression that it was quite run-down? I mean some of the buildings looked really nice but the coridoors needed a lick of paint! On the upside i really liked the atmosphere, quite relaxed.
