    Would anyone be able to help me with the equation for this reaction in which sulfur dioxide is bubbled into a solution of CrO42-? What is the ion formed?

    Which? The Cr-based ion or the S-based ion?

    If you're a Y12 student, you'd be told in the Q.

    If you're a Y13 student, look up some electrode potential values (and apply the anti-clockwise rule).

    Sorry, should have said this is with regard to the cr based ion. Its a question on transition metals

    Have you oxidised alcohols, yet?

    The CrO42- (you'd use Cr2O72-/H+) is oxidising the SO2 and ends up the same as with alcohols.

    err... not entirely sure. So is the CrO42- reduced? What is it reduced to?
