Yeah i'm doing it!
You really think Love?
I'm thinking more honor/dishonor...
Reply 2
Ummm Love is the easiest theme probably because thier is so much interwined with love i.e. love of honour, love in a relationship, love of power, so if it is love i will really happy!!! However, i think maybe honour and dishonour, possibly with links to betrayal and loyalty!!??
Reply 3
I doubt it, dishonour came up Jan 07 (OCR)
In terms of themes, the least recent that has ever come up in the past is Rome vs Egypt- however, I feel that there are too many themes in this play for them to start repeating themselves
Reply 4
How about destruction?
Reply 5
Umm in saying that it is unlikely for honout to come up then, but still it may.
Well, egyp vs Rome seems quite probable because it is one theme that encompasses alot of other themes. Also, i think maybe something such as power and war??
Reply 6
Yeah but they could still ask about honor... they may believe students wouldnt have looked at it because dishonor came up.

Egypt V Rome would be a good one because there is a lot you could talk about.

It could be on a certain character? Like Lepidus possibly?
Reply 7
Lepidus? not sure...I really dont see them asking about him because he plays a limited role. Love and Rome and Egypt seem most probably. Really doubt honour. How about tragedy?
Reply 8
Well isn't there a choice, you can either answer a character question or a theme one. Always better answering the themed one, because you can include alot more in and display a large amount of writing skill and nowledge of the play. i doubt traedy will come up because generally there is a limited amount of things to write about!

From the sheet thing i got given from my teacher it says that for Section B requires you to write an essay on the whole play. There is a choise of two questions. The first question seems to be about character or relationships; the second about a theme.

Yeah i theme would probably be better to write about... because then you can include more characters.

I think a question on power would be interesting...

How are you remembering your quotations for the play?
Reply 10
1. There is an absolute ton to write about tragedy. Lets not forget that the play itself IS a tragedy

2. Characters can be wider than you think- I mean- if you look at Antony, I would inevitably alos look at Clepatra, Caesar, and how he interacts with them, and indeed the Rome egypt split

In terms of learning quotes, I have a revision guide which I got from amazon, and I ave just memorized a bunch of quotes from it...

Don't forget Enobarbus and Octavia
Reply 12
Enobarbus I highly doubt will come up- too recent. Octavia- is easy enough- I just doubt there is much to say for her- but there is enough.
Reply 13
Yeah, but because there is little to say about her they might use it because it will force students to analyse more....

What do you think about the passge question? Any ideas?
Reply 14
Well they usually just ask to examine the character(s) mentioned in the extract. I am hoping for the barge scene
Reply 15
barge scene was year before last my friends sister told me so thinking?? that was for ocr tho. they have done barge scene, final death of cleo scene. when ant and caesar meet after he returns from egypt.
any other clues for passage??
Reply 16
I kinda hope its not the final scene, as we had to kinda rush that to get it finished.

When Antony and Caesar reunited would be good, i like that whole "you sit" "no you sit" bit...

My teacher gave us a list of what she thinks will come up -

Act 1 Scene 1 - They like opening scenes
Act 1 Scene 4 - When Caesar is criticizing Antony
Act 1 Scene 5 - Cleopatra misses Antony
Act 3 Scene 2 - Last time we see triumvir together
Act 3 Scene 11 - Despairing Antony visited by Cleopatra
Act 4 Scene 12 - Cleopatra fleet deserts again
Act 4 Scene 14 - Antony attempts suicide
Act 5 Scene 2 - Cleopatra suicide

According to the list i've got, these were the passage based questions that have been done - (missing some)

Act 2 Scene 2 Casear and Antony Jan 2007
Act 2 Scene 2 Cleopatra on barge Jan 2006
Act 3 Scene 13 Antony has Caesars messenger whipped May 2006
