16 year old at tesco?

Hey!
I've been called for an interview at Tesco's tomorrow but i havent finished my GCSE's yet do you think they will see this as a problem?
Also what type of questions do you think they will ask? Because whatever they ask me i feel as though i wont really have any answer because i've never really done any form of work before
So say if they go ' tell us a new skill you have learnt recently ' and i say something along the lines of i have learnt to manage my time effectively in order for my preperation of GCSE's would that be ok?

Sorry for the thread as i know there is one on Tesco interviews but nobody seems to be talking in it.
I'm really nervous too lol so i'm gonna take a walk to the recruitment centre tomorrow and listen to my pod
They do not take on people who are still at school - so make sure you sort it out with them that you wil lsart working afetr you finish school.

when i was there they actually amde the mistake of hiring a 15 year old - they couldnt sack him but he had to work very reduce hours - like 12 a week or something

Ive been at Sainsbury's 1.5 years now and started when i was 16 although i'd finished my GCSE's. I think now your on exam leave it wont make much of a difference, its only like 3 weeks till you finish your exams so they should be lenient in that respect.
In my interview i had a task to do which was easy, for Retail interviews at our level, they are just basicly checking that your an alright person and not rough or anything if you get me.
Getting into the Supermarket world is good as you can meet loads of good people of your own age, have a laugh and get paid. Plus i am just sorting out my dual contract which means i can work at a Sainsburys in Bristol for uni and when i come back to Halifax i can work at my current store as normal which is extremely useful.

You're not supposed to work for them untill the last friday in June (when technically you're exams will be over). So if you pass the interview i'd just call them up after you get you're letter of confermation and tell them about this. That way you'll still have a job and you'll be finished you're exams.

Been at tesco 3 years now, if you need any more info PM me
I started work at Tesco when I was 16, however this was in the Autumn once I had received my GCSE results and was about to join College. Throughout my interview I managed to refer most of the questions back to my performance in my GCSE examinations; just try and make sure if you are going to use this as an example to make sure your references are varied and appropriate to the specific question.

Also, i wnated to ask what would be best to wear?
I only really have jeans + 3/4 jeans so i'm thinking of wearing my jeans with just a plain top?
Will this look too casual?
The only other pants i have are school pants but i would feel kinda scruffy wearing them
Ahh im getting so nervous now =[
ermm, i wouldnt go to an interview wearing anything other than proper shoes and proper (black) trousers unless i had been specifically told it was casual...

don't treat it liek a walk in the park for 2 reasons
1) u might get someone really anal
2) impressions count and they want people who will look smart in their own uniform, which is infact shoes and trousers/skirt

If the store isnt opening untill july you'll be fine, be aware however that you will have to go to another store to do some training but transport will be provided for you.

I just wore school pants for my interview, i really wouldnt suggest jeans, perhaps get a coloured shirt to wear instead of a white one, next do some good ranges. The chances are you'll get the job considering they'll be needing alot of staff.

Im multi skilled so work across two departments (checkouts and non food) however i've actually worked in every departement in the place. Stacking shelves means less hastles by customers and its easier to have a quick skive but the time can go a bit slowley especially if you're working on you're own.

Ok i've decided to wear my black jeans with a plain tshirt as that is the most casual/smart stuff i can find lol.
I'm getting so nervous now my interview is in an hour i just hope my voice doesnt go shakey :frown:
I've tried to thing of answers for some of the possible questions but i will probably just make them up as im there.

Dont be nervous, the staff will be really nice  or thats what i've found when i've been to other tesco stores. As for an answer to working in a team you must have played a team sport, so say something like well i was on the high school netball team and we were playing against really strong opposition and since i was the captain i had to motivate my team to try their hardest and bring the best out of people and even though we lost the match it was a really good game with a positive outcome.

Its just a haelth questionnaire, nothing major a few simple questions. I presume you'll be part of a group interview i wrote about one of these yesterday in the following thread.

Sorry to hi jack the thread, but I am just about to hand my application in but read above that you cannot work at Tesco if you still at school, I was wanting to work part-time in the school term and full time in the holidays, is this not possible, I am 16 and in 5th Year in Scotland.
