my BIG English literature RANT (suggestions to the board)

Just a rant ....

Things need to be changed with that exam big time.

some suggestions to the boards:

MAKE IT 2hr 30mis!!! not 2hr 15mins. (that little extra makes a HUGE difference and is common logic!- o yeah exam boards dont have that)

Allow notes back on either the books or poems !!! (or both if you are feeling nice)

Foundation tier struggle greatly overall and do not finish (takes more explanation to get across a point)therefore this would suggest maybe they study one book and the poetry.

For the AQA 1hour 30 is so not enought time to plan and write two essays. I hope the board recognises this and doesn't mark us too harshly!!
I think it's more than enough time.
You have to manage your time properly as much as you can.

45 mins for one essay is just the right amount of time.

If it we got more, it'd be more strictly marked...which isn't a good thing.

1h45 for my AQA A exam, it's always tight but that pushes you more, and those who need more time for writing get it. Pushes you to be the best you can be.

5 more mins is all thats needed. Just so that I can check my work etc.
If you add 5 mins tho...then theres bound to be someone else who wants "just another 5 minutes"...it could end up being a very long day lol!

Spend 10 minutes planning on each...as this is very very important!!! Besides if you write stuff in ur plan tht u don't include in the exam then u get marks for that  !

Anyway...wots done is done.
I think a strict time limit is good cos it ensures tht u only write relevant stuff instead of a load of dribble lol! Might jst b me tho cos i'm a freak tht likes english lit!!

Me and Ben are on AQA B and our paper was 2H15M long and we had to do 3 questions, including a comparison question and a social/historical context question. I agree we could do with a bit more time, i did finish but only with about 2 minutes to spare, so i couldn't check it throughly
Yeah, 1h45 is definately not enough time. I didn't have time to read through my answers.

I think the problem is, which a subject like English, the more time you have the more you write.

So even if it was 2 hours we would still have this problem, because you would push yourself to write about more things.

I think it is plenty of time. At the end of the day, the more time they give us the more marks they will have to give out and the more will will be expected to know and write. Surely you aren't all telling me you want a bigger workload than we already have.

I like not having notes. In fact, I think they should make it a closed back exam because then we would be forced to know the novel better and not spend time flicking through for quotes.

God if it was a closed book exam i think i would die! lol, luckily i knew where (about) the quotes i wanted were, but if i didnt have the book it would have no quotes in! lol

It should be at least 2 hours!
