I am a third year student of MORSE (Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics) at the University of Warwick.

I was wanting to know what my chances are of getting into the MASt in Mathematical Statistics ( Part III ) at Cambridge. I am on track for a first and have averaged 80+% in mathematics and statistics modules across years 1 and 2 ( My scores in economics and business school modules are, on the contrary, abysmal, but decent scores in maths and stats still keep me on track for a 1.1). My focus in year 3 is on statistics modules in probability theory, statistical modeling/ inference, stochastic processes, and a bit of mathematical finance.

Given my background, how likely is it for me to receive an offer for the aforementioned?

Hi! I got an offer for MASt Math Statistics (part III) at Cambridge. I have quite a similar background, I am completing a Bachelor in Econometrics and Operations Research (91% average over the three years up to now)

Congrats on the offer! When did you apply, and when did you hear back? Also, out of interest, what university are you from?

Thanks! I applied in approximately November, and received the offer on the 1st of March. I am from Erasmus University, Netherlands. What courses are you planning to take in part III?

I'm currently a Part III student (although for pure maths). I guess you could get an offer if you kept those grades, but (theoretically) other variables are also taken into consideration. Do apply!

Hi, I have submitted my application to part iii for Pure Maths. My modules focused on analysis (Mathematical Analysis, Topological Space, Functional Analysis, Measure Theory), but no algebra or geometry background. (Other modules are numerical computation, prob stats, optimisation) I achieved 83% in year 2 and currently doing year 3 at Nottingham. Is it likely to get an offer with this background...?
