Hi, I'm a current year 12 student looking into Abertay University's Forensic psychobiology course.
I'm basically asking what both the course and the Uni are like?
I live in Surrey (South-East London) so it would be a big move for me to study up there, so was hoping for some questions to be answered (:
The course has lower entry grades than other courses I've looked at so was wondering if that makes the course any lesser than the others?
Also, the university itself isn't high up on league tables and was wondering if that made a big difference to its quality of courses and future career prospects?

The university is young in comparison to others in the UK but is making its way up the ranks. The course is so unique that the university ranking shouldn't affect your experience. I'm currently studying the course and in my 1st year. It is classed as one of the top and hardest degrees at the uni. There are other uni's in England that offer similar education but this is the only one in Scotland that offers criminology, biology, forensics and psychology combined.
The course is well designed but hard work. You need to be prepared to work hard to get the grades. Lecturers are great but some days can be tedious!
Although the entry grades are lower it would still benefit students to do well and study hard prior. Speaking as a mature student, if you don't have knowledge of scientific numeracy, biology and psychology it will be harder to grasp. Chemistry will also benefit students looking to apply for the course, the more knowledge you have prior the better. We had over 100 apply for our degree and only 25 spaces available. Many of those spaces are taken by international students.
The course is so diverse that job opportunities are varied. Many of us plan to go onto masters and PhDs to specialise in different areas.
The course is under development to suit job opportunities more specific to real life. The new course title is psychology with forensic biology. Doesn't sound as intriguing but is still the same course! Would recommend it to anyone that wants a career in the justice system, police and criminal psychology. All the best!
