Driving for the first time after passing?? watch

    • Thread Starter

So I passed my test in December and had to save up before I could afford a car, I bought it today (hurrah!!) but going out on my own was just awful! I managed to drive it back from the garage okay, but then I went for a little drive round and got a bit stressed because I kept stalling and it was so embarassing.

I came back and told my mum I was a bit worried that I just wasn't a good driver so she drove me out somewhere and then told me to have a drive around with her in the car. Let me tell you, it was horrific... I was stalling left right and centre, nearly hitting cars, couldn't park. There was one point where I did a right turn out of a junction, got stuck in the middle of the road because I stalled literally three times in a row, and this was a busy road! I was driving around with tears in my eyes for the rest of drive, and parked up at one point and had a good cry.

Clearly my driving instructor and the person who passed thought I could drive so what's going on?? Did anyone else really struggle driving after they passed? And if so how did you get over?

Don't worry, this is a really common problem with new drivers especially when you're in a car that you haven't driven before. You just need to practice to get used to the car and before you know it you'll be a pro, I've heard so many people say that you really only start learning to drive once you've passed your test lol, take more care on the road till you get the hang of it and maybe think about eating the P plates so people know you're a new driver, like I said it's just practice, good luck op!
Is the Big Bang theory correct?
