Just wondering how everyone found this paper???

I thought it was quite good, but the first question seemed a bit weird. I wrote about how Stalin used his former positions as general secretary and commisar for nationalities to get support and how he used his political skill to criticise other contenders and how he alligned his views with lenins etc, then i went on to talk about the importance of lenins testamentnot being released, then i talked about how he used NEP and collectivisation to defeat the left and right blocs.... i wrote other stuff but i cant remember

I thought question B allowed you to cover every topic really which was good, I started off by agreeing with the source talking about 25,000ers enforcing collectivisation etc then moved on to the revisionist evidence like stalin had a lot of support n e ways..

I jus managed to finish so i was pleased about that!

So what did everyone else think?

I got bout 4 pages of writing done for question A, covered just about every point that attributed to Stalins succes in the power Strugle. But when I went on to question B my mind just blanked. I managed to spit out 2 pages of writing, none of which flowed and partly made connections to the question  .

I really don't know how well I've done in History, I got a D last year and the teacher hasn't given us results for the two pieces of c/wrk we did earlier.

    Similar -

I focused quite a bit around the issues *surrounding* the rise to power, and not the rise to power per se, i.e. the debates between nep vs. collectivisation, world revolution vs. socialism in one country, and whether stalin was the heir of Lenin. I didn't think it was a 'how did Stalin come to power' question, rather thought it was a "what were the political debates at the time of Stalin's rise to power" kind of question.

Question B, I focused mainly around the terror as opposed to collectivisation - quickly stated totalitarian viewpoint - went on in more detail to mention how crime rate rose showing people not cowed, how there was a market amongst plebian arrivistes for 'cult' lit and artwork, mentioned how there was some genuine opposition from minority groups to the bolsheviks (riutin etc), how chitska can be considered as 'good housekeeping' - ridding the party of careerists, and how policies such as international revolution and the smychka were dead horses politically by 1929 - so they wouldn't need cowing into submission over them anyway.

Sources didn't neccesarily match the arguments - most the time I used the sources I used them to knock them down, and I probably should have gone into more detail about the countryside and totalitarian viewpoints, but timing was an issue by the end of it. Got it finished though.
