    hi,
    i am doing the edexcel m3 paper from January 2009 but i cant do question 5 i think the mark scheme might be wrong because even when i work it out from the last line in the mark scheme it still comes out wrong for me

    i can get to the last line i just get 12 instead of 24 in the final answer

    From the second line moving onto the third line: \displaystyle \frac{amg}{24} - \frac{amg}{48} = \frac{amg}{48} \neq \frac{amg}{24} as you've said.

    Oops! Sorry I kept forgetting to multiply the RHS when I took out the half from 1/2 mv^2

    So basically your 2nd -> 3rd line = wrong. Check again

    You're wrong, \displaystyle \frac{1}{24} - \frac{1}{48} = \frac{1}{48}, you seem to think that \displaystyle \frac{1}{24} - \frac{1}{48} = \frac{1}{24}

    You might want to use a calculator next time.

    not too bad its the first time i've tried teaching myself module so its taking me a while to get to grips with the exam questions but im getting there

    Hey me too - first proper one I self taught! Well I taught D1 before but that was a joke

    Let me know if you have any questions, yeah? I'll hopefully be doing the same

    Was it just me or are the exam qs a lot easier than the textbook ones?

    yeah i was really worried when i was doing the example questions from the textbook but now its looking much better
