I've got one coming up soon at school, with all the potential Oxbridge students from across the county attending. Has anyone attended one of these before? What exactly happens there, who comes from Oxbridge, how much interaction do you get with all the admissions tutors?

It partly depends what you mean by an "Oxbridge conference". Do you mean one of the student conferences that's happening over the next two weeks?

These are generally rather large day-long affairs with lots of tutors and students.

Many other schools have their own "oxbridge conferences" which might vary quite a bit in size but are relatively small with a handful of oxbridge tutors and current students.

err.. no its true. In Lincolnshire at least. Btw, i meant all those in Year 12 (and some year 11s) who have indicated to their school they are interested in making an application. Although I suppose there is the possibility some schools do not come.

And that's closer to the truth.

    You mean this?

I went to it when I was applying, I guess if you can't be bothered to do research yourself then it could be useful but honestly, there was nothing there that you couldn't find out from the university websites and TSR. Some of the talks were interesting but I don't think it really helped my application in any meaningful way.

At least at the conference I attended, there were 4 or 5 time slots and you choose the talks you want to attend (there were talks about general admissions stuff and subject-specific talks). There's usually an opportunity for questions or you can try to catch an admissions tutor after the talk, like I did.
