My manager has just moved my playing position from centre back to a defensive midfielder.
Next weekend we are playing the team at the top of the table and we are third.
What is my role as a defensive midfielder ???
Do you have any tips for my position ???

    - screen the back four.
    - fill any gaps between the two lines.
    - you might be asked to mark their number ten out of the game.
    - in possession, make sure you're open for your centre backs to find a pass.
    - move the ball as quickly as possible in possession, never lose a square ball, always move it forward with pace when possible. If you get caught in possession your back four is exposed.
    - don't make runs into the 18 yard box, that's not your job.
    - don't shoot speculatively, keep the ball moving.
    - always win the second ball when your team is under pressure.

You sit in front of the two centre backs and operate predominantly horizontally providing cover for your midfielders and defenders.
