Need for table of contents in extended essay project?

So for my dissertation type thing, only 5000 words, guidelines suggested we may include table of contents.
I wonder if anyone could suggest whether this is necessary - I only have 3 title sections other than intro and conclusion.

*edit: I also have a v short (150w) abstract that is intended to cover summary of subject and key arguments. My intro is essentially a longer summary of this - should they be more different?

TIA

I'd check with your supervisor as every university is different.

My dissertation, for example, is strictly set into a few parts. A table of contents is required.
