As the independence bit of the name would no longer have any relevance?

Or would they just pack up and cease to exist anymore?

Surely UKIP would dissolve/disband as there would be no need for them.

Yeah, probably. The only way they would continue is if they rebranded themselves to something wider than just being concerned about the EU, and then changed their name accordingly.

right now a leading political party in iceland is called "the independence party" - iceland became independent about 70 years ago. the independence party was the party of government that led iceland to independence from norway (or denmark, I don't remember - one of those). so parties don't have to change their names just because they succeed in their objectives.

They would likely just rebrand themselves as a party that puts UK interests above other members in the EU. A sort of populist conservative party with more traditional social views.

They wouldn't. There would be no need to, it would only confuse people for no good reason.
For example, Iceland gained its independence in the 1940s and the party that secured this is still to this day called the Independence Party.
There is also a misconception here from one reply that UKIP are only concerned with the EU. While that used to be true, under Nigel Farage's leadership the party has developed a much wider ideological base, and UKIP would likely build on this further after Brexit. The party has come too far to suddenly disappear, and will probably try to assert itself as the "real opposition" to Labour and the Tories to gain influence.

Doesn't matter, they'll be irrelevant in five years unless the vote is within a couple of percent either way.

They'll find another scapegoat and change their name to 'anti-XXXX party'

    looooooooool

But they would cease to exist. They only get attention from all the single-issue voters that think leaving the EU is going to turn the UK into a paradise overnight. Once we leave, our economy falls to bits, we don't have enough skilled workers and so on, everyone will throw a tantrum over Farage misleading them. And then we'll find a new scapegoat.

    A very good question.
The existence of the party would be pointless.

If we left the EU we wouldn't even need political parties anymore remember. When we leave, Isis will be defeated, poverty eliminated, cancer cured and the refugee crisis solved.

Just going off what the out campaign are telling us
