I've seen plenty of rooms on spareroom.co.uk advertising rooms with that price. They don't look great, and some don't even have desks. Has anyone rented a room with that price before? By Central London I am refering to zones 1-3.

How central do you mean? I've never seen anything in central for less than £650 a month.

What do you mean by central london exactly?

You are definitely not going to be able to get a decent room in zone 1 -3 for that price

I found my current place on spareroom and was looking for places as cheap as possible and within about 30 min commute to central london (zone 1). The closest and cheapest place i found was in zone 4 for 500pcm, so a 400pcm place in zones 1-3 is likely to be dismal

From stuff I've seen online, £400 a month in central London will barely get you more than a cupboard, lol.

There are areas in Zone 6 and higher that are reasonably commutable if you're close to a fast train route and can afford the travel card.
