So my friend is setting up as a freelance web developer.. He has a few businesses interested but has yet to close any deals. Thing is he is going to quit his day job Im worried his plans will fail so have been advising him not to quit but he keeps saying he is sick of working for people and being a slave.. Ive tried to tell him to just stick with his job but he wont listen and is getting funny with me about me not encouraging him. Am I wrong? I just dont want him to endup homeless.

I think you have a point. It makes no sense to quit your job, go self employed with no prospect of a steady income.

I would be advising him to see if he can get some solid work offers with his freelance stuff before quitting his "proper" job.
