I remember doing a similar topic for my GCSEs but bear in mind I did this nearly a decade ago!

A good starting point would be to do a little research into the Black Panther party, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, etc. who all fall into the categorisation of 'black power' supporters. You can research their methods and ideology, which often clashed with other key figures in the civil rights movement. Many figures in the black power movement supported black nationalism and some supported separatism from the white population (though I do not think the Black Panther party supported separatism). You can then contrast this form of ideology with figures such as Martin Luther King and others who called for unity and actively attempted to engage with politicians and bring about change from within. You can probably argue that the black power movement had less of an effect than MLK and other figures in the Civil Rights movement.

Sorry this is a little vague as it has been many many years since I did this topic but I'd be happy to help more if you want.
