No I didn't, what a bad hint.

I bought him a motorway and night-time driving lesson :p: (didn't want to do the full Pass Plus, as I had already driven in all of the other conditions during learning, and I wouldn't have got a reduction on my insurance anyway)
I got my second one (with whom I actually passed) a bottle of champagne to say thanks as she was suuuuch a legend
My instructor had mentioned in passing during a conversation that his favourite wine was a merlot, so I bought him a nice bottle for just before my test (on the pretense of being a xmas present, seeing as it was 10 days before hehe)

No, couldn't be bothered. He got a bonus anyway cos I passed first time. That's enough of a gift.
Gift?

Do you not pay him/her?

Do they not get wages?

Do you give hairdresses a gift if you go out and pull the night after you get your hair cut?

Do you give the person who served you in a shop a gift if somebody compliments your new shoes?

All in all, no.

I gave my Instructor a box of Ferrero Rocher at Xmas and when I passed I hugged him. I personally would have preferred the hug

That only works for a girl...
You can hug girl instructos and boy ones..

If I try and hug a chick one she'll get me done for assault and the dude will think I'm gay...

I'll stick with a big sloppy kiss for either lmao

Hm, I don't know whether to get my instructor anything. I passed yesterday, after 11 months of lessons - so it was a bit of a long haul. I think I'll send him a card...
I reported mine to the DSA for being a disgusting inappropriate creep :frown:

Lol, haven't seen him for a while...
Aw, the cute relationships that start between instructor and intructee

I acidentally gave me an extra 20 pounds because i couldnt think clearly after i passed my test so counted the money out wrong plus i introduced him to 4 friends and my sister who all passed thier driving test with him first time. He was a great instructer. Will be seeing him again in July as my brother is starting to learn with him
Reply 15
Well mine isn't going to be getting ****, the rip off prices should be satisfying enough for him.
Reply 16
I think mine was just relieved that I was going to stop slashing his pass rates after turning into a nervous freak the second I met the examiner.

An instructor is more of a teacher then a shop keeper, and someone
who 'raises' you from a non-driver to passing your test deserves some sort of reward.

Passing your driving test will be a highlight of my life, and I'd like to thank my instructor if I pass first time.
Unlike many teachers, driving instructors don't do it for the job satisfaction of helping somebody to learn, therein lies the difference.

It's nice that you want to do it but it's still not necessary. If I pay somebody to do a job I don't then give them a present once they have done the job.

I bought my instructor a present when I passed. But then my instructor was my dad...

I wouldnt have bought anything if I had a proper instructor though, who I was paying to teach me.
