The 2% failure rate is a pointless statistic.
It is really you're right. It's 2% chance of pregnancy if a couple use only condoms in perfect conditions for a year wherein they have sex 120 times. So really the chance is less than 0.02% chance of pregnancy each time you have sex ASSUMING you have sex every 3 days for a year.

So how do you know what it'll be like? Surely sex with a condom is better than no sex at all?

You should both be using contraception tbf. Its not very fair for you to expect her to be on birth control that messes up her hormones and stuff, without being willing to use any contraception yourself.
It's not fair that my only contraceptive option is a johnny.

    (Original post by dejonghcj2)
Even if you're a virgin or have never used drugs, either of you could still have STDs. You should both get tested if you're even slightly considering sex without a condom. Ultimately, both of you are responsible for birth control and both of you should use some form of it. Have you considered male birth control pills? Female condoms? If the two of you can't decide on contraceptives then are you sure that you should be having sex together at all?
Heriditary STDs are very rare and we're not strangers to our mothers. I think they may well have told us about this at some point. Realistically the chance of us having STDs is minuscule. If that risk was a real one then ****, the risk of dying from car crash everytime I do a car journey would be so great I'd have to never use a car again.

If a woman is not willing to attempt any form of birth control I highly doubt she'd care for female condoms tbh. Male birth control pills are not a thing yet... They're in trial and are too dangerous. There's a really high risk of them causing infertility still. Why on Earth would I risk that when there already exists a multitude of contraceptive options for women which are evidentially far far safer?

No, no I'm not sure. Hence why all this thinking about it is turning me completely off wanting to do it.

    Just get the vasectomy.
Nuh-uh. Peeps be complaining about the side effects/harms of female contraception? I want kids. Eventually. The harms involved with a vasectomy are massive. It's an absolute no-go. It would be incredibly selfish for woman to expect their partner to get a vasectomy when they want kids. They're not easily reversible... And it costs thousands to do so.

    (Original post by og.east)
bruh just put a johnny on, lube up and do your girl a favour or 2. you might not nut but she'll have a good time and tell everyone you are the bees knees at laying pipe.
Ayeeee. You're right bruh. It is nice to see that you're really turning someone on and giving them pleasure too.

    (Original post by chikane)
Maybe she does not want to take the pill because she dosen't want her hormones messed up, I have been on 2 different one for 3 years and they have made me very moody and pile on the weight so its unfair for you to ask her to go on it, if you want someone on the pill find someone else to shag.
But she's never tried it Surely she should try it once? I mean there's just so many options for her but she's never tried any and doesn't want to? Is that not unfair? To place all contraceptive responsibility on me? Do you see the problem with the "unfairness" argument? Contraception is always going to be unfair these days because society is sexist and it doesn't provide males and females with equal contraceptive options available to them.

You're turning down sex with a girl? LMAO i'd reach through my computer screen and choke you if i could. Where and how did you meet this girl?
Yeah. Gone a long time without, can wait longer tbh. Online dating site, but she lives pretty nearby.

    (Original post by Tiger Rag)
It's possible that contraception doesn't work for her. That's what I've been told is true for me, due to the medication I'm on.
I'd understand completely if that was the case. Hell, even if she'd just took the pill once before and it made her feel *****y and that turned her off all contraception I'd be sympathetic, but, she has never tried any. If it was for a medical reason that she hadn't tried any I'd understand but surely she'd point that out? Also, of course, there are many alternatives if the pill is not an option...

So, let me get this straight - you're moaning because she doesn't want to take contraception, yet, you won't wear protection? You're placing all responsibility on her, which isn't fair. Nor is forcing her to put hormones into her body.

I think it's very selfish of you to refuse to use any contraception yourself.

'Oh boo hoo, it's so unfair a condom is the only form of male contraception.'

Bro, you know how a penis works, right? What are you gonna do, write a letter of complaint to Mother Nature?

The only form of temporary and convenient form of male contraception is a condom. That's just how it is. You can complain all you want, but it won't change.

Just use the damn condom and stop being so selfish.

Of course, I expect you BOTH to use contraception. Should probably use spermacide too.

Unless you really want to risk a pregnancy?

Actually when I asked her about this the context was that I'd be wearing a condom anyway even if she was (on birth control). But then she tells me that she's not on any birth control and doesn't really intend to get on any. And that's when I started doubting things, especially given that she's never attempted any form of birth control.

Honestly? After reading most of your posts I feel like you've romanticized the idea of first time sex too much. Your attitude screams 'no condom or it will ruin my perfect epic historical first time experience!'. And first times are usually far from perfect anyway.

    What an absolute manchild.

The underlying issue is that you clearly masturbate too much. Anyway, use the ****ing condom like a big boy and if you don't ***, let her give you a blowjob or use her hands.

Usually. But I'm not your usual virgin *puts shades on*

I did romanticise the idea of first time proper kissing too much hahaha.

If anything though this just puts me off sex even more. Like, is it really worth all the hassle if its not even that great? Is it really worth all the hassle if it means I have to no longer masturbate? Is it really worth all the hassle of dealing with contraceptive options? Suffice to say I'm not feeling eager to get stuck in.

Why else has there not yet been a male contraception pill 50 years after the female one cam into fruition other than sexist undertones about the relevance of it based on the notion that people have that if it existed it would not be used because males are irresponsible, selfish and promiscuous and thus would not take caring about the prospect of a potential pregnancy into their own hands?

I appreciate that stopping the production of sperm constantly is harder than stopping one egg from being released every month, but nonetheless, it's been 50 years and nobody talks about male contraception nor do they seem to care.
Maybe because for women using a pill is easier than using a female condom and for men a condom is easier. In any case it is always better to not take hormones that affect such an important part of our bodies. It is also best for men to use a condom because it reduces the risk of STDs for both parties. It would be perhaps more harder for a woman to wear a female condom.

Not everything is sexist. If there was seen to be a demand for a male pill then it would've been made by now (if science permits). No need to fix what isnt broken. I am not sure if we even have the science to make a pill for men.

I don't think a lot of men quite understand how damaging hormonal contraception is to the body of the woman using it, not to mention the environment after she excretes in her urine. Yes, I think you are being selfish, extremely so.
Agreed. It's not a no consequence fix and it's incredibly selfish to demand she puts her health at risk just because OP spends too much time watching porn.

Not sure how they even reached that statistic anyway. For me condoms are 100% effective in preventing pregnancy.

I could do a survey now and find they're only 80% effective, doesn't mean it's true.

Not going to happen man. It's way too long gone. I start getting erections after 3 days at ****ing anything and I can't focus on work at all. Too busy to have such a problem in my life right now. **** I'd rather just go no sex than start ****ing around dealing with that. Don't need sex, I pretty much do need to masturbate.
This sounds less like high sex drive and more like an addiction.

An addiction and a high sex drive. Yeah. I've gotta deal with it. Dunno if now is the best time though tbh. Well actually, maybe at the end of this week when I've got a month off uni. Although that doesn't deal with the more prominent issues that I worry about...

It's not just an addiction because I masturbated before last visited hers and I had no problem at all maintaining an erection for pretty much hours lol.

Just because you can maintain an erection doesn't mean you're not addicted.

In general you should be much more considerate of her and frankly it is ridiculous to be so against using condoms given that you don't even know how sex with a condom feels.

Who knows, I don't have to deal with the contraception issue so I wouldn't know. You can always choose to join the dark side, too (homosexuality) lol Then you won't have to worry about getting anyone pregnant either.

To be clear - it's not just condoms themselves that are disgusting me. It's just the thought of impregnating someone combined with the awkwardness of me going limp because I can't feel anything, and having to stop half way through, put a condom on... It is all just making me overly anxious and I'm not really over-enthused with the prospect of having sex anyway tbh. Collectively, all together, it's just putting me off.

For clarification though if she had said "yes, I'm on the pill" I would have not made this thread and I would have been intending to have sex with her, with a condom too, this weekend.

You're getting far too wound up over the pregnancy thing, the 2% failure rate is calculated over a year, it's estimated that at the most, 2% of women only using condoms will get pregnant over the course of that year. It does not mean that every time you have sex, you have a 1 in 50 chance of being a father, so be a big boy and use them correctly.
