I'm in my first year of uni, in October which was a month after starting, My Grandad passed away meaning I missed a lot of lectures and practicals due to me grieving. After the christmas period I was fully ready to get stuck back in when in the middle of January my auntie passed away. This then sent me over the edge and I again wasn't attending lectures/practicals. My tutor has suggested I take a leave of absence and start the whole year again in September which I think is the best option for me, although I just wonder how this will affect my student finance? Will I still get the next 3 years fully funded? I currently get my tuition fees paid for (£9000) and get a maintenance grant and loan. Can anyone help?

Your student finance would stop from when you take the leave of absence and then would start up again when you return. You could possibly be eligible for compelling personal reasons and therefore be able to get a year of funding back or just use your gift year if you wanted to start 1st year again.
