In my school, FP2 and FP3 are optional in terms of learning and doing the exam, so I was just wondering if it was the same case elsewhere

swear the F1 papers are harder than the IAL FP1 papers??? had a 4+ mark difference between the 2 papers for jan 14

Not at all - they're the same - you need to know about roots of polynomial equations which I think isn't included in the FP1 spec.

For Edexcel A2 Further Maths, you have to do either FP2 or FP3. (Or both if you choose!)
So am I right in saying FP3 does not require FP2 knowledge?

Difficulty ratings, the more *'s the harder, a + is worth about half a star.

Yeah, if you find yourself getting confused by the sigma notation, write out the series explicitly.

Hello again!
Could you explain me how we moved from the first line to the second?
If more information is needed tell me to upload the whole question.Screenshot_1.png

2^2k-1+2 = 2^2(2^2k-1) = 4^2k-1

Riight thanks, i went on and added the +2-1 on the power and got lost.
As I posted in last year's Edexcel FP1 thread, I have written an Enhanced Examination Paper for both Edexcel and MEI FP1.

It is meant to be a significantly more challenging examination of general concepts specified by different boards. It is fully doable for students with knowledge of standard FP1, C1, and C2 material.

If you can make a good start on all of the questions then you should be on track to a strong A in this module.

Good luck!
