    Hey people of TSR

Me teeth were really bad (like really bad! - no exaggeration) and I started wearing braces near the beginning of year 11.
I'm now in year 13, whilst my teeth are straight AF, my bite is still terrible, and both my jaws are not in line. My orthodontist recommended jaw surgery.
The prospect of this scares me to bits and I've decided to have follow up appointments to discuss this but I was wondering if there was anyone that could give me any advice on this? like pros and cons
If I were to do it in the summer holidays, would I be able to recover by the time I go uni in September? I really don't want to be wearing braces for that long, but if I have to I will.
Any help, advice and past experiences would be much appreciated!
    Thank you

I'll bump this thread for you

I've not had this but I know people who have! It's hard at the time but I've never heard of anyone who's regretted it afterwards, and lots of people thinking they should have done. From what I've heard the recovery time can be quite a while in terms of waiting for bruising to go down and things, but how it affects you obviously varies a lot. I'd imagine if you have it done at the beginning of the summer you should be alright though. There's a big thread about it here http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=1603029 with loads of people's experiences so might be worth having a look at that!
