    Hello!
I was looking at various university courses and their entry requirements, when I came across the extended project qualification. I did a bit of quick research into it (I'm still not 100% sure about all the details) and I was wondering if anyone could do it. I haven't heard any mention of it at school, so I'm not sure if that means that I can't do it (I have to check). However, I wanted to know if you had to have certain grades to do it? I'm retaking my AS year as I didn't get very good results (I pretty much failed) but with the subjects I'm taking this year I'm getting really good grades, although I still need to improve quite a bit in one subject. Would this affect my chances of doing the EPQ?

As far as I know, you don't need any specific grades in order to do an EPQ

I did EPQ over the course of A Levels - there was no limit on who could do it, as long as you have something you want to write about

Depends on your sixth form. There are some requirements. Some may ask for a good grade in the subject you do in the EPQ, and others look at your progress in the relevant subject in the sixth form.

Hey! I'm currently just finishing off my EPQ now, so if you have any questions I might be able to answer them (maybe, I make no promises ). I've found it to be really great doing a project on something that I had a genuine interest in and I would recommend it, but I have found (especially now as exams approach) that the work is starting to build up and cause alot of pressure trying to do the EPQ and homework and revision, so if you've been struggling you might wanna bear this in mind. Also, only one of my offers asked specifically for EPQ in their offer, and the rest hardly cared about it at all. This has been true for loads of people in my school, and while I'm sure it looks good and could swing things in your favour in terms of offers I really don't think its anything that uni's specifically look for in students

I was maybe considering Southampton university as an option and they asked for it as one of their requirements but the other universities I've looked at haven't mentioned it. What did you do yours about? I've heard that people sometimes do them over the summer holiday so it doesn't interfere with their subjects

Funnily enough, my local uni is Southampton uni and I did the EPQ. I literally know no one that would recommend it- it gets in the way and most unis disregard it. Honestly, I wouldn't bother and I would just focus on your exams

Oh good luck, Southampton is lovely Mine is incredibly boring haha, "Do the benefits of statins therapy outweigh the risks?", everyone I tell always pulls a face like

Yeah, my school has decided to focus on it really since January, but the boys grammar nearby did all of theirs in the summer which seems alot better
