I have heard that there is an allowance made for two students from the same household by student finance? If, so how does it work?

Also, what happens if a students household income changes dramatically within the year? A parents divorce, for example? If they initially receive the bare minimum in loan, would they then be able to claim more loan part way through the year?

See http://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/1617/ft/s...orm_1617_d.pdf section 6 (this is the paper version of the online form) you declare other dependent children when completing the assessment form. Page 10 of http://www.practitioners.slc.co.uk/m...ide_1617_d.pdf explains how that works into the assessment (essentially they reduce your income for pension contributions and £1,130 per child before deciding how much your children are eligible for).

If your income changes in year then you complete http://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/1617/ft/sfe_cyi_1617_d.pdf after you've completed the financial assessment details for assessment of your previous income. (the form explains how this works)

    Thank you.

    That's all very helpful.

So you know how long it takes to re-assess the finances after filling out the change of circumstances form?
