there are school prizes??? news to me
nah our school doesn't do prizes for highest marks, and if they did i doubt that would be put on the reference or personal statement and i don't see why it should make a difference
We didn't get anything like that. My year voted me 'Biggest teacher's pet' in Year 11 though- cringe...

I won the GCSE English Literature prize (supposedly because the examiners marked a lot of talented people down) and last week I won the official Sixth Form spelling bee with 'floccinaucinihilipilification'... will they give me a place for English now? :p:

my year voted me "most likely to advertise in a phone box"

Not sure if that's one i should be putting on the cv eh
I was "most likely to be the next Maggie Thatcher" (same school you see), complete with caricature in the yearbook.
After GCSEs, my school gave awards to each student for each subject, and I won the Maths award. However, I'm not sure this was such a good thing, as 14 girls in my year received one of those "Top 5 in Country" certificates (I'm assuming some tied for the marks), and I wasn't one of them, because, despite having gotten full marks for the tests, my courseworks had all been rather shoddy. So I got the Maths award, I'm assuming, for showing dedication to the subject, the result of my Senior Maths Challenge, and my module marks for the ASs we did early.

However, the prize I got was a £15 book voucher, there was no certificate, so I'm not sure if I should mention this on my personal statement or anything as I don't even have proof. :s-smilie:
ask them to put it in your reference.
