Hi, I'm in the same situation, but swap chemistry with English Literature. I've been to two Cambridge days, one a day for high achievers and the other an economics masterclass earlier today, and i asked at both events whether i should take futher maths as an as level next year, and both have suggested it would make me a more "competitive candidate". The first person to suggest this was the admissions tutor for science (which economics is now classed as) and the second was a student liason officer.
The admissions tutor said "probably" in a way that implied yes.

    Hope this helps x
