Is it okay to have time off work due to Grandfathers death? watch

    • Thread Starter

17 year old male here. Student and work part time on weekends. Grandfather passed away Sunday evening after a long battle with parkinsons disease and dementia, luckily I was at his side along with my family for his last moments and it has hit hard. I have only just got back to functioning semi-properly and its been 5 days. I really don't think I can work on Sunday as everything is such a mess in my head and I'm an emotional wreck. Am i within my rights to take the day off?

Depends. If they have a 'compassionate leave' policy, then yes. Speak to them, hopefully the HR will show some empathy.
How are you feeling in the run-up to Results Day 2018?
