Okayso Im in upper sixt and Im starting to get really nervous for applying to veterinary. I dont think Ive done enough work experience. I've did work experience at a small vet practice for 1 week, mixed for 1 week. Ive also been working at a dairy farm for 1 and a half years. I live on a sheep pig and cattle farm, been to a poultry abattoir for 1 day and spent 1 week at stables. I cant get into any dog grooming or kennel places but is there anywhere else I should try and go in this last week before I send my UCAS form off? Do you think I have enough work experience. I have 4As at AS!
Unfortunately you can't use the farm you live on as WEX I would strongly recommend some small animal because that's where your application is weakest, but possibly something like a more intensive farm for pigs or poultry

My school has been such a let down with my personal statement. I'm the first person to have ever of applied to veterinary from my school and they seem to be giving me alot of conflicting advice. Alot of the advice is better suited to someone applying to medicine. Is there anyone experienced in the world of personal statements that would be able to give it a read?
the guys at applying to vet school are great, would completely recommend sending your PS to them

I had searched the forum for it and copied and pasted it in so I can't see how it breaks the rules. It isn't an advert. I wanted to reply and asked what was wrong with my post but couldn't unfortunately.

Great, ready to actually not apply there.
From personal experiences from applying to RVC, Liverpool, Bristol and Nottingham last year they weren't that bothered that only of my references was a print out from a email with a signature so you should be alright but don't take me complete word for it

does anyone know if the applying to vet school email is still checking statements?
I made some last minute changes to mine and I want someone to look over it before I send it off
I can't send it to the med/vet/dent person at my school bc she's made it very clear that she's fed up with how many times I've sent it to her

We are but we're facing a bit of a back log at the minute so don't be disheartened if it takes a while to get your draft back!

I just started a thread about this but what is this new questionnaire system! I'm really worried about it, not knowing what to expect from it!

If you mean the work experience questionnaire, it's not new and all vet schools I applied to three years ago (RVC, Surrey, Notts & Liverpool) had them. It just seems that a lot of schools aren't aware of them so people don't find out about them until their application has been sent off.
They're nothing to worry about though! They tend to just be a table form asking for name of placement, dates you were there, how long you were there and then a brief description of your duties or what you did there. IME they have used these more in interviews than the PS, but forgive me if I'm wrong or things have changed!

You then also get situational judgement tests for some vet schools, where you are given a scenario and then a bunch of actions that may be carried out. You then choose which is the most appropriate or ethical in that situation

Last year.Surrey acknowledged my application and sent me a link to their portal where I submitted my work expereience references.. This year, the information sounds a little different, am I supposed to be uploading it to UCAS?

Literally logged on to ask the same question. Surrey is very specific in regards to how they want their WE forms formatted, but I can't seem to find any details stating where to submit it.

edit: they do not send any emails if they do not accept the references so make sure to check the portal frequently

I've had two acknowledgment emails but neither said anything about work experience questionnaires or references. Do you have to go into the portal to get any more information?

I got an email saying they require additional information so I think they will send one to everyone at some point.
But if you go to this website https://magic.surrey.ac.uk/applicant/servlet/Query you can activate your account using the university number they sent in the acknowledgement email, and you can upload your references straight away.

Hi there, just posting on my son's account, this is probably too late for 2018 as the deadline is looming but may be good for 2019/gap year students, - there is a fantastic place in the south west of France which offers work experience with a wide range of animals large and small. The owner is an animal behaviour specialist and has a partnership with several vet schools in the UK for EMS. I'm not sure what the insurance rules are for accepting under 18s from outside France, my son studied in France and had trouble getting enough work experience because he was 17 and it's almost impossible to get insured for work experience unless it's through the school but it may be it just needs the school in the UK to endorse it. There's accommodation on site and everyone that goes there seems to love it. So for anyone struggling to get large animal experience for example, it a may be a possibility. Anyway here's a link: http://lamaisondeschameaux.fr/vet/
Hi there, is this in Gers? If so, I think I have also heard of this place being recommended for EMS when I was working in Auch this summer

When I was filling in the RVC work experience form, it went blank and then went back to the page to create the form! Did that happened to anyone else?
